Spotify As A Platform?

Original Article

Today I was looking at my Spotify window and sharing some cool Christmas albums with friends. I noticed that just about every friend I wanted to share with had already connected with me on Spotify (via Facebook). Then I began to wonder what “critical mass” would be for an app like Spotify. At what point does Spotify have so many connected users that moving to something like Google Music becomes too much of a risk of losing existing connections for people to take the plunge? It’s kind of like Facebook’s advantages, it’s not that Facebook is better than other social networks but everyone uses it… so everyone uses it.

It’s interesting either way, and the social music competition is now apparently moving full speed ahead!
